(28). DOCTRINE OF IMPUTATION – Jesus Paid It All
DOCTRINE OF IMPUTATION – Jesus Paid It All
The Doctrine Of Imputation...
why its so significant for Christians? Imputation is defined
as: To reckon to someone the blessing, curse, debt, etc. of another.
Biblically speaking, Adam's sin is imputed to all people (Rom. 5:12-21), therefore, we are all guilty before God. What did God do to remedy this serious matter? Our sins were put upon (imputed) Jesus on the cross where He became sin on our behalf (2 Cor. 5:21) and died with them (Isaiah 53:4-6). Thus, Jesus Christ paid for all our sins in full with His atoning death at the cross.
Understanding imputation is essential to spiritual growth. Imputation is the means of our salvation that provides the blessed work of sanctification. Our sins were put upon, (imputed) to Jesus on the cross. Our sins were "given" to Jesus. When He died on the cross, our sins, in a sense, died with Him. The righteousness that was His through His perfect obedience to the Father in His complete obedience to the Law is imputed, given, to us.

Imputation and the Implications
In short, our sins were given to
Jesus. His righteousness was given to us. Technically speaking our sins were
imputed to Jesus. His righteousness was imputed to us and provides indisputable
assurance that as believers, we will never come into condemnation( Romans
8:1). Thus, the consequential outcome of our sins is
destroyed. Born again believers will never
experience separation from God. Jesus said, "I
am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were
dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall
never die." John 11:25
The death of Jesus Christ for our
sins was necessary. For we cannot secure the blessing of salvation by virtue of
our own righteousness. The righteousness of Christ is every
believers protection and provision from the wrath of God. The only
reason why God is justified to forgive sin is the death of His Son, Jesus Christ. Thus,
salvation is not by works... it is salvation that DOES work.
No matter how you feel, no matter
what accusations you may wrestle with from within or from without, Jesus
Christ will never condemn those He purchased with His blood (period). A Christian
who disregards God's call to repent will be dealt with parentally, not
judicially.
Thus, Salvation is provided and
exacted to all who will believe on the Lord Jesus Christ by God's grace thru
faith. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not
of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should
boast." Eph 2:8,9.
